HERBS THAT EXPEL PARASITES

-Selecting the proper herb depends upon the type of parasite and the patient's body constitution. In cases of a complicated pathological condition, these herbs may be used with herbs of other categories.
-Qi stagnation
-Purge stool


-Since some of these herbs are toxic, overdosage may cause side effects. They are contraindicated during pregnancy and in persons with a weak constitution.



SHI JUN ZI (Quisqualis Fruit)
Sweet and warm
Spleen and stomach

FUNCTIONS:
-To kill parasites

INDICATIONS:
-Roundworms

6-10g

CC: Overdosage of the herb will cause hiccups, dizziness, vertigo and vomiting. Taking this herb with hot tea can also cause hiccups.
-Take with herbs that strengthen spleen


KU LIAN PI (Chinaberry Bark)
Bitter and cool
Spleen, stomach and liver

FUNCTIONS:
-to kill paraistes

INDICATIONS:
-Roundworm: Taken alone
-Hookworm: Combone with Bing Lang
-Pinworm: Combine with Bai Tu and Wu Mei. "The thick decoction can be taken as an enema to wash intestines once every night. Treatment should be continued for two to four times."

CC: This herb is toxic and should not be taken for a prolonged period. It is contraindicated for a person with a weak constitution or with a liver disorder.


BING LANG (Areca Seed)
Pungent, bitter and warm
Stomach and large intestine

FUNCTIONS:
-To kill parasites
-To promote qi circulation
-To promote water metabolism

INDICATIONS:
-Parasites in the intestines (especially tapeworm): Combine with Nan Gua Zi
-Retention of food with abdominal distention and constipation or tenesmus in dysentery: Use with Mu Xiang, Zhi Qiao and Da Huang in the formula Muxiang Binglang Wan
-Edema: Combine with Fu Ling Pi and Ze Xie
-Swollen and painful legs: Used with Mu Gua, Wu Zhu yu and Zi Su Ye
-Malaria: Combine with Chang Shan

CC: This herb is contraindicated in a person with weakness of the spleen accompanied by diarrhea.
-Should be combined with herbs that tonify spleen, kidney yang.


NAN GUA ZI (Pumpkin Seed)
Sweet and neutral
Stomach and large intestine

FUNCTION:
-To kill parasites
-Protects prostate
-Treats male infertility, quality of sperm: (50g each day)

INDICATIONS:
-Tapeworm and roundworm (Use with Bing Lang)

60-120g

CC: In treating tapeworm, the 60-120g of powder of the herb is taken. Two hours later, the decoction of 60-120g bing Lang is taken, and then half an hour later, 15g of Mang Ziao in decoction is taken. This method will discharge both the tapeworm and the feces.


HE CAO YA (Agrimonia Bud)
Bitter and cool
Liver, small and large intestines

FUNCTIONS:
-To kill parasites
-To purge stool

INDICATIONS:
-Tapeworm (Take with water in the morning before breakfast. The tapeworm should be discharged within 5-6 hours.)
-Treats yeast infection (external use)

30-50g


LEI WAN (Omphalia)
Bitter, cold, slightley toxic
Stomach and large intestine

FUNCTION:
-To kill parasites

INDICATIONS:
-Hookworm and roundworm (Combine with Bing Lang and Ku Lian Pi)

-May treat lung, stomach and liver cancers.


HE SHI (Carpesium Fruit)
Bitter pungent, neutral and slightly toxic
Sleep and stomach

FUNCTIONS:
-To kill parasites

INDICATIONS:
-Parasites in the intestines, including roundworm, pinworm and tapeworm (combine with Shi Jun Zi and Bing Lang)

FEI ZI (Torrya Seed)
Sweet and neutral
Lung and large intestine

FUNCTION:
-To kill parasites

INDICATIONS:
-Parasites in the intestines
-Hookworm: Combine with Guan Zhong and bing Lang
-Tapeworm: Combine with Fei Zi and Bing Lang
-Roundworm: Combine with Shi Jun Zi, Ku Lian Pi, and Wu Mei

30-50g

CC: This herb can be taken with a decoction, but is most effective when made into a medical ball with honey and taken directly.


GUAN ZHONG (Basket Fern)
Bitter and slightly cold
Liver and spleen

FUNCTIONS:
-To kill parasites
-To clear heat and release toxins
-To stop bleeding
-Antiviral "Has a very good function to antiviral."

INDICATIONS:
-Parasites in the intestines
-Hookworm: Combine with Fei Zi, Bing Lang and Hong Teng
-Tapeworm: Combine with Lei Wan and Bing Lang
-Pinworm: Combine with Ku Lian Pi and He Shu
-Wind-heat common cold, warm-heat maculopapule and acute parotitis
-Extravation of blood by heat manifested as vomiting of blood, epistaxis, bloody stool and functional uterine bleeding.

CC: The carbonized herb is used to stop bleeding.
